It has been acoustically designed and built to blur the lines between rehearsal space and the live room in a recording studio. To this extent, it is often used for recording!

Large Rehearsal Studio

Measuring 6x4m, our 4 large rooms are the workhorses at Pen Cap Chew. Acoustically treated to hear the subtle tones of your vintage amp; isolated enough to be able to rehearse next door to the loudest rock and roll band in Perth without interruption. It comes equipped with:

Please note - peak room rates will apply where the studio is fully booked AND there is a waitlist. We will always communicate the status of the bookings prior to your session in case you'd prefer to pass it on.

Record your jams, demo your next single, record that entire garage-punk rock album, isolate that part of the song that goes di-di-dahhh.

Add any of these production packages to your booking to get the absolute maximum out of your session at Pen Cap Chew.

Pre-production rig that allows you to record your jam session

JAM

A DIY package with an Omni-directional room mic (in addition to the vocal mics) recording the tunes in the room.

An iPhone recording on steroids!

Bring your own SD car, hit record, jam, hit stop, grab beer, press play, listen back, bounce an MP3 from your favourite DAW!

Rate: $40 per 4hr session

DEMO

Everything in the JAM package...but with multiple microphones included to individual track all the instruments.

A bit more robust for those tinkering with an idea and wanting to mix prior to bouncing an MP3. Or the punk rawkers amongst us that want to record an entire EP.

Rate: $60 per 4hr session

The Fine Print

Peak | Monday to Friday 5pm - late, Saturday and Sunday

Off-Peak | Monday to Friday before 4pm excluding public holidays

All sessions are 4 hours in duration - use as much or as little as you like.

Need more time? For an extra $15, you can have the room for 12 hours.

Want more time? Hit us up for extended hire deals.

Cancellation Policy

We appreciate that things come up from time to time that may prevent you from coming in for your session. We simply ask for a minimum of 6 hours notice (or 24 hours when the studio is fully booked) so that another band doesn't miss out. A cancellation fee equal to the room hire may be charged where insufficient / no notice is provided.
